Assam 6th Schedule TET Exam 2023: The Special TET for 6 districts of Assam is scheduled to be held on 30 April 2023. Last Date to apply is 25 March 2023.

The Assam govt has released an advertisement on special 6th schedule Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2023 for Lower Primary and Upper Primary level schools. This special 2023 TET exam will be conducted only for the 6th schedule area of Assam.

In Assam, there are 3 Autonomous councils that belongs to the 6th schedule area, those are Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Dima Hasao, and Karbi Anglong. BTR has 4 districts namely, Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, and Udalguri. So a total of 6 districts of Assam formed the 6th schedule area. Candidates belong to this six districts of Assam are eligible to apply for the Special TET exam.

The Assam TET 2023 Notification: The Govt. of Assam has announced the Assam TET 2023 notification, i.e., the Special 6th Schedule TET 2023 Exam details are shared here for your convenience. You can find details like candidates from which districts of Assam are eligible to appear for the special TET exam organized by the Assam government. The eligibility criteria along with the terms and conditions, exam dates etc are shared.

Eligibility Criteria

The TET Exam Eligibility criteria of both lower primary level and upper primary level exam is shared in details below.

Educational Qualification

Below is the minimum TET Exam Qualification Details needed in order to be eligible for appear for the Lower Primary (LP) schools TET exam (Class 1 to V):

Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) obtained from any NCTE recognized institution shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in class I to V, provided the person so appointed as teacher will have to mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two years of such appointment as primary teacher.
bHowever, a candidate who is pursuing and having Admit Card of final year examination of any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Guideline dated 11th Feb 2011, may also apply for TET. However he/she can apply for appointment only after acquiring all the required qualification.

Below is the minimum educational qualification needed in order to be eligible for appear for the Upper Primary (UP) schools TET exam (Class VI to VIII):

Note: Minimum percentage of marks in graduation shall not be applicable to those in cumbents who had already taken admission to the Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Elementary Education or equivalent course prior to the 29 July 2011.

Marks Relaxation

If you have scored bit less in your Senior Secondary (class 12) or Graduation, there is 5% relaxation in the required marks for certain category of candidates with some conditions. Please have a look whether you meet the TET marks relaxation or not.

Apart from the above educational qualification needed as part of the eligibility criteria, the candidate also must fulfill the below two conditions

  1. Candidate must be a permanent resident of the 6th Scheduled area districts.

6 Schedule TET Exam Date

The special six schedule TET exam for Assam will start accepting online application from 5 March 2023 onwards, and the exam is scheduled to be held on 30 April 2023. You just have approx. 2 months to prepare for the exam.

Syllabus for Special TET Exam

Assam TET 2023 Syllabus: Those who are going to appear for the Assam 6th schedule TET exam 2023, you need to prepare according to the Assam TET 2023 syllabus shared by the TET exam conducting body. TET paper 1 and paper 2 syllabus are different from each other.

Special TET Paper I Syllabus

Paper I consists of 5 subjects, each subject will have 30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), and will carry 1 mark each. So, a total of 150 questions carrying a total of 150 marks. There is no negative marking for the wrong answer. The candidate can take advantage of the no negative marking, they can attempt all the questions without a second though.

Paper II consists of 4 subjects, 3 subjects will carry 30 questions each, and one subject (specialist one) will carry 60 questions making it a total of 150 questions and 150 marks in total. Again there is no negative, so have fun attempting all the questions without worry.

TET Exam Duration

The exam duration for both the Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be of 2 and 1/2 hours (150 minutes). Additional 20 minutes will be given to the visually impaired candidates.

Minimum Marks Needed for qualifying in TET

In order to pass the TET exam, candidate need to score 60%, i.e., candidate need to score 90 marks out of the 150 marks to qualify for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).

But there is an exception for the certain category of candidate. Those candidates belonging to the SC/ST(hills)/ST(plain)/OBC/MOBC/PWB(PH), there will be relaxation of 5%, i.e., candidate need to score only 83 marks out of the 150 marks to qualify for the TET (Teacher Eligibility Test).

Since, there won’t be any negative marking, some candidate may get lucky to score high if they are good at guessing the answer.

Validity of TET
